Welcome to Meandering Through Time

Family History and Other Historical Ramblings

Loves Last Gift: Remembrance

I would like to dedicate this website and the family stories within to my dearest parents, both of whom have now passed away.
Hello, there you are. I am glad that you've decided to delve a little deeper into my website. Now you are here let me tell you a little about myself and my site. My family and friends will tell you that my head is in the clouds but I can assure you, my feet stand firmly in the green pastures of beautiful England. I just adore my daughters, of which I have three, my wonderful, caring, and supportive husband, of which I have one, and my brilliant little grandson and granddaughter who are the latest cheeky little twigs on our family tree. I enjoy history, especially the medieval period, researching my family history, local history, art, reading, and the very very beautiful County of Cornwall.

Oh! And I am interested in anything about Richard III

I was born in Cornwall, where my family still live. My father was a member of the Royal Air Force for twenty-five years and I have lived in different parts of the country and have family links as far north as Lancashire and as far south as Cornwall. Over the years my ancestors have managed to dig up rather a lot of coal, farm a lot of land, make a rather large amount of fabric for stockings, build boats, captain fine-masted ships and sail around the world and even poke their noses into the royal prerogative. Also, a couple of us have had our heads separated from our bodies. From my last statement, you may have guessed that I have a gateway ancestor and that is how I am able to 'hang' with royalty. For those who don't know (I didn't until I started researching my family history) a gateway ancestor is a person who enables you to pass into the world of those in charge, that is, the monarchs of our fine country. How did I manage this I hear you cry, well it was simple really, my hard-working 'law abiding' merchant class ancestor bagged himself a royal bride.

I also write about the events in history that affected the lives of my ancestors.

My journey begins here, just click on the ancestor index button to get a list of the surnames of my ancestors, and then follow me back in time. So, if you are interested, my stories and blogs are just a click away.

Hold on tight!
