to come home for the Christmas holiday. They are waiting for him to close the door and say the words
"Well, that's it for Christmas."
Five simple words, that's all. These five words, are the start of just a few traditions we perform in our household that make
this holiday perfect, tiring, but perfect.
Emma Freud writes in her article:
"it is not what you do, it’s the fact that you always do it, every year – same gags, same annoyances, same places, same rows, same joys. Their pleasure is in their longevity – our longstanding rituals that remind us of where we came from and what we remain."
Our little tradition is just one of many, and yes they do remind us of where we came from, some of these traditions remind us
the people who are no longer with us, of times gone by, but more importantly to me, it is a framework of love that will give
the next generation something to build on.
